The competence "Work on universal lathes" is a competitive platform for the best turners of Rosatom State Corporation, as well as for students of educational institutions. In the course of performing a competitive task on a universal lathe, participants demonstrate and improve their professional skills. They share and learn from their experience, improving their skills. Get acquainted with new types of tools, equipment and tooling. The competence promotes the "man of work", increasing the prestige of the profession "turner".

  1. Expert mentor
    a specialist in working on universal lathes, has the skills to read a drawing, knows and understands the terms of reference, and is proficient in all types of measuring instruments and devices used on the site.
List of participants
  1. The participant
    is a qualified turner or student, has a qualification certificate, and has no medical contraindications related to working on metal-cutting equipment.

Competitive task

Composition of the competition task

The task is a drawing on a sheet of A3 and(or) A4 format made according to the ESKD standard, according to which it is necessary to produce a competitive part using equipment and tooling located at the workplace.

Purpose of the contest task

The purpose of the Participant's speech is to produce the part according to the requirements of the drawing.

Checking the level

Each specialist is tested for the level of proficiency in two groups of knowledge and skills

Knowledge and skill groups

Professional skills based on the participant's specialization

  • Knowledge of the universal lathe design.
  • Knowledge of the properties of processed materials (Materials Science).
  • Reading drawings (knowledge and understanding of the ESCD).
  • Ability to work on grinding equipment, knowledge of the classification of abrasive materials and grinding wheels.
  • Knowledge of shaping technology in accordance with cutting parameters, processed material, equipment and cutting tools.
  • Knowledge of labor protection requirements when working on universal lathes and sharpening equipment.
  • Knowledge of cutting tool geometry.

Ad platform rules

  1. The order of the Participant's performance is determined by drawing lots.
  2. All Participants who perform on the current competition day must appear no later than 20 minutes before the start of the performance and check in with the Technical Expert.
  3. The participant must wear special shoes with reinforced toes and a full set of special clothing on the site.
  4. The participant receives a task from a Technical Expert in the presence of at least two Expert Observers, who record the start time of the task.
  5. Participants are allowed to use their own measuring tool. Before starting their presentation, the Participant should show the Technical Expert the tool that is planned to be used.
  6. Blanks are provided to the Participant in the amount of 1 set.

Participant's workplace

  • The participant's workplace is equipped in accordance with the infrastructure sheet.
  • A description of the workplace structure, the toolbox, and its contents is described in the volume.
  • The participant must wear special shoes with reinforced toes and a full set of special clothing on the site.

STRICTLY PROHIBITED BY THE RULES

  1. During the competition days from C1 to C3, bring to the workplace and/or remove from the workplace any information in electronic, printed or handwritten form
  2. Use communication tools on the site: smartphones, tablets, etc.
  3. It is forbidden to be in the area of competence under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  4. While completing a competitive task, communicate with someone without the permission of the Chief Expert.
